Battles
Revolutions rarely succeed. And when they do, they’re usually deformed.
I watched ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER twice, and it depressed the fuck out of me. Why? It was too close to the bone.
I wanted to change things. I gave up a comedy career to chase this. I’m serious. I was on the verge. You have no idea.
I met Jeff Cohen. He changed my life. I joined Fairness And Accuracy In Reporting (FAIR) in 1986, for no money, but I didn’t care. I sat on the floor and clipped newspapers. I was happy to do it.
I went on to speak for FAIR, in a variety of venues. It was an incredible experience. Sometimes, when I think about it, it seems like a dream. Maybe it was.
Jeff asked me recently if what we did was worth it. I said that it was. We changed minds. We gave people a different perspective. I saw it up close. I’m proud to be a part of it. It was amazing. I’d do it all over again.
